Road lessons can not be scheduled on the same day you have class. This is not allowed by the RMV.
What materials are required for the class sessions?
- We will provide pens, a Massachusetts Driver's Manual, and accompanying course materials.
- Manuals must be returned at the end of class. If you wish to purchase a manual, we sell them for $5.00. This is the cost the RMV charges us.
- Free copies available in many languages can be found by clicking here.
- If you want to print it, it might be cheaper to just purchase the ink and paper, as they can be quite expensive.
Road Lessons
Can I use my own car for lessons or the road test?
No, our vehicles have safety features (passenger brake, mirrors, signage) that don't come standard with standard vehicles.
Can I bring a family member or friend to my lesson?
Due to insurance reasons, only registered students and instructors are allowed in the vehicle. This includes but is not limited to spouses, parents, and family members.
A translator may be allowed if arranged with the office prior to the appointment.
Will I have other students in the car with me?
Yes. Most lessons have another student for a brief period while that student is dropped off. For most of the lesson, you will be with the instructor.
Will I have the same instructor each lesson?
While you may request a specific instructor, this is not always available. We have many great instructors, and it's good to get different perspectives. Our scheduling is based on location and the requested lesson hour. This has always worked best to ensure you can get driving hours at the day and time you are looking for.
What can I expect during my road lesson?
Your instructor will pick you up at your predetermined pickup location. Instructors often arrive 10-15 minutes before your lesson. Your instructor will communicate this with you.
At the beginning of all lessons, you will present your permit and lesson card to your instructor. You will arrange the mirrors and seat to your liking and make sure your seatbelt is fastened.
- You will start with your hand signals
- The lesson starts once you enter the car, so it is important to be prepared.
- You will drive the previous student home.
During every lesson, we try to practice the following:
- Three-point turns
- Backing up in straight lines
- Parallel parking
- Hillstop operations
- Road rules
- Road situations
Instructors will evaluate each student's capabilities. Every student is different, and instructors will work to ensure all students are prepared for the road and the road test.
At the end of the lesson, you will drive to the next student and switch places. That student will then drive you home.
If my instructors ends lesson due to conduct violation will I be charged?
Yes! You will be charged the complete road lesson fee. This is in addition to the package price.
Can a driving instructor cancel or end my lesson for conduct violations?
Yes, the policy is below:

- Students must be respectful. Instructors need you to be safe and listen to ensure the safety of all in the car.
